Robert Selkirk

Robert Selkirk is the latest addition to the Current Archaeology publishing team.

He was educated at St Paul's, and then went on to Birmingham University where he read Business Studies. While at Birmingham he began his interest in media, joining the Birmingham University Radio Network ("BURN FM") which has a licence to broadcast for two months in the year. In his final year he was Station Manager, running the station with great success and persuading the university authorities to re-equip it completely.

Robert Selkirk at his studies at Birmingham On completing his studies at Birmingham he was persuaded to join his parents at Current Archaeology, and though he has little wish to follow in his father's footsteps as an archaeologist, he looks forward to promoting the magazine, and taking it forward successfully into the second generation.

He has already written a new subscriptions programme in Visual Basic, and has also established a secure ordering system using 128-bit encryption in Actinic Catalog. He is now extending the range of the Current Archaeology activities, by setting up a Current Archaeology shop.

He runs a new web site at www.currentarchaeology.com, (where the secure ordering system is situated using a cgi-bin), and he has recently acquired two new web domain names, ILoveThePast, and HistoricalGifts, which he is rapidly developing to provide an outlet for the many craftsmen who are readers of Current Archaeology and who can provide a fine range of high quality goods.

He also has plans to launch a sister magazine to Current Archaeology - providing that his father will act as editor!
