Which University?

At which university should you study archaeology?

There is a lot of formal information to be obtained about the degrees from the University guide books, but they do not always give a 'feel' of a university. Here we offer an informal look at the universities, who the professors are, and something on their recent history and interests.

This is based on a listing made in 1993, which has been spasmodically updated - please report any errors

This is intended for pre-university students: however should anyone at a university find these pages, I will be glad to hear of any comments and corrections. In particular I will be very glad to hear from any current students and their own impression of the courses: please email us with your impressions, and we will pass on the best - please help your successors by giving them your impressions.

Before reading these pages you should know something about the Research Assessment exercises, which were carried out in 1992 and 1996 - click here to read the listing as published in Current Archaeology, together with some explanations.
