The Current Archaeology |
|
This Directory of British Archaeology lists over 700 organizations in British Archaeology in its yellow pages. These include universities, professional units, local authority curators, and archaeological societies, both national and local.
The Directory lists not only their names, addresses and telephone numbers, but also their numbers of staff/members, date of foundation, and a brief note of the recent activities and the scope of their organization. In doing so, it provides an invaluable snapshot of the current state of British Archaeology. The Directory is published in printed form as a supplement to Current Archaeology 157, and is available free to subscribers.
The Directory lists first the national organisations, then the regional and local organisations, listed by region. Finally there is a 'sundry' list of Booksellers, travel agents, and other archaeological magazines. Within each section, the bodies are arranged alphabetically: use the 'Find' button in your browser to find individual names of societies, places or postcodes.
Click here for the complete listing. This is a particularly useful method of finding the more obscure organisations.
N.B. This is a 286k listing, and may take several minutes to download. Please report any changes, corrections or additions to Current Archaeology. |
