Newcastle is home to Viz a hugely successful comic; so where better to celebrate them than on the City's historic riverside. See the already larger than life Viz characters come alive before your very eyes... Hunt Emerson started his life in this city. too, and his internationally acclaimed work will also feature in a major exhibition on the quayside. |

Exhibitions of the work of Carol Swain, other British women, and the 'Breakfast Project', with contributors from around the world, will represent women comic artists. European artists will make up the International exhibition, with a selection of work showing the diversity and breadth of the comics medium. |

The Riverboat Shuffle is an essential experience, the city's vibrant social life will satisfy even hardened party goers, and Newcastle United Football Club are hosting three Euro 96 football matches during festival week. |
