etscape Enhanced (HTML3) 800 x 600 x 256

This site was set up to advertise the festival and was deemed
a creative success.
I have decided to keep it on the
WWW as a record
of the event and because I was very pleased
with the result (it was my first attempt at creating a web
site and I only used text editors - no HTML authoring tools!).
Expect LOTS of broken links (now), out of date email addresses
and the text still refers to the event as if was yet to happen - I ain't changing it now.

The Concept To showcase and celebrate the art of comics Festival exhibitions will feature original art work by British and European artists, presented within three dimensional interpretations of the comic strip ideas and characters. Each exhibition will be designed by a professional theatre designer. This is a culturally innovative and highly successful model developed and used at the major European Festivals of Comic Art.
Exhibitions will run from 3rd
June for at least a week.
Workshops for young people by working comics writers
and artists will be provided over the Festival weekend,
some of these run by a French group under the auspices
of the Council of Europe and their Youth initiative against
racism, xenophobia, anti-semitism and intolerence.
Seminars and talks
by artists and publishers about
censorship, comic art history, disability and the comics,
and other topics will be on the agenda for more serious
students of the medium.
Artists from Britain, Scotland, and Europe will be represented at the Festival.
The annual gathering of women comic artists will move
from its regular London spot in Covent Garden to a
Newcastle venue.
Merchandise
Exhibition catalogues will be available for some exhibitions, along with t-shirts, badges and
postcards bearing the festival logo. |
