Education
Lulworth has a wide range of educational activities taking place. Based from the centre classrooms, schools can get out and about to study anything from geology to ancient history.
The activities include some sessions on the beach and if the tide is right, a dip into the rockpools. Beach study concentrates on the extremes of environment encountered by the plants and animals living there.
Guided walks throughout the year cater for the general public.
Educational activities at Lulworth include:
INTRODUCTION TO THE LULWORTH AREA (suitable for all age groups)
A talk and slide presentation, of approximately 30 minutes, giving a wide-ranging introduction to the social and natural history of the Lulworth area. This general background will be complemented by up-to-the-minute information on the latest wildlife sightings and other topical items, providing a sound basis for subsequent fieldwork.
DISCOVERY SESSIONS (Separate sessions cater for up to 16yrs old)
Spend approximately 2 hours with a Ranger, benefiting from their local knowledge and experience. There are 4 Discovery Sessions to choose from, each covering a different aspect of the Lulworth area. Wherever possible, sessions are linked to the National Curriculum.
Some of these sessions are of a seasonal nature and are not possible during the winter.
Discovery Sessions are charged on a 'per head' basis which includes: Free entry to the Heritage Centre, associated worksheets and notes for teachers, use of classroom and 2 hours of Ranger time.
