Draft Guidelines for co-operation between the independent sector and the government

The government’s signing of the Valetta Convention produced a strong adverse reaction from many archaeologists. The government, in its response, proposed that a 'Code of Conduct' should be drawn up to facilitate co-operation between the independent sector and the government. The Council for Independent Archaeology has therefore drawn up these draft Guidelines to form the basis of such a Code.

Guidelines for County Archaeologists

Guidelines for English Heritage and its congeners

Guidelines for the Portable Antiquities Scheme
