The TR/CIA meter: some practical examples
The surveys shown below were completed using the TR/CIA Resistance
Meter and twin probe kit. All surveys are sampled at 1m intervals
and the images were produced using the PC interface software.
Below left is an air photo of a site on fen/terrace gravels,
thought to date between 1000 bc and ad50. To the right, for
comparison, is the result of two surveys with the resistivity
meter, conducted a year apart and combined together using
the merge and edge matching features of the PC Software.

|
| This is a second site, where the results of the resistivity
plot (left) can be compared with the subsequent excavation (right)
The plot shows what is thought to be late Iron Age or Roman
enclosures. The enclosures are overlain by ridge and furrow
medieval cultivation (at an angle). At the site location,
shallow soils overlay the solid geology, consisting of brashy
Jurassic limestone

This survey was completed using the TR/CIA Resistance Meter and
twin probe kit and consists of 6400 readings logged as sixteen 20x20
grids. The grids were merged together and the image filtered to
remove the effects of the geology and topography.
