Equatorial deserts occur at both 30* north and south of the equator due to the presence of Hadley cells. These deserts occur at the latitudes on all of the major continents. While the taxa of animals and plants occurring on the continents are often dissimilar they often show remarkably similar adaptations, an example of convergent evolution.
