Printer works well with ABC.

Mike Mitchell (Tachographics) reports that Samsung make an excellent printer that supports both Windows and DOS software, making it ideal for use with ABC5. The model number is Samsung ML2250. It is a small high quality laser printer that costs well under £100. A similar printer is the Brother HL-2070N.

We are pleased to say that for most users the process of submitting their PAYE End Of Year Returns electronically using ABC was a straightforward and effortless process. Perhaps 10% of users had minor problems with their data which had to be fixed (eg. invalid National Insurance Number, or Tax Office codes entered wrongly).

New filenames when downloading updates

When you download an update or demonstration version of ABC from this website, the filename now tells you which version of ABC the file contains. For example:   ABC5U126.exe = UPDATE to version 5.126
ABC5R115.exe  = RECENT CHANGES up to version 5.115
ABC5D101.exe  = DEMONSTRATION version 5.101

Windows Printing for ABC5

Over half of all support calls these days concern problems with printing. Many Windows printer drivers are very poor in their support for DOS programs like ABC, particularly in the most recent versions of Windows.  We have now enabled ABC5 to utilise the Windows Printing System (the same as all other Windows packages). This overcomes the problems, and works with Windows 98, 2000, NT, ME, and XP. (but not suitable for Win 3.1)

A bonus is that you also get a Preview Window, and can include pictures and different size fonts in reports and letters. The Euro currency symbol can be printed. This update for ABC5 is supplied on CD with 24 page Manual, and is available from ABC Direct Sales or your After-Sales Support company.
