Allow me to introduce myself:

My name is Bill Maddox - a Master Mason since 1985, having been Raised to the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason at Perfect Union Lodge #10, AF&AM Grand Lodge of Texas. Since then I have joined the Southern California Research Lodge, Royal Arch and Cryptic Masons, the Knight's Templar, and the Shrine.

Alt.freemasonry is an unmoderated newsgroup for the discussion of freemasonry.

Alt.freemasonry provides for the general public to ask questions of members of the fraternal organizations that make up Masonry. It also facilitates communications and research among Masons. And then there are times when you can see the sense of humor of those who call one another brother.

Since Freemasonry consists of activities for the entire family, (DeMolay for boys, Rainbow Girls and Job’s Daughters for girls, Order of the Eastern Star for wives, and other organizations), we need to remember that this is a group where children will be reading the discussions, and conduct ourselves accordingly.

While Alt.freemasonry is unmoderated, that does not give license to speak without reproof. Please review the AUP {appropriate use policy) of Mindspring.com at http://www.mindspring.com/aboutms/policy.html and
the AUP section of the FAQ at: http://rattlehead.accs.wayne.edu/~cplater/affaq

Things to consider in your postings here should include:
1. Some Children read this group, use proper and clean language.
2. Respect the other participants, their religions, nationalities, races and creeds.
3. Respect and follow the rules of usenet while posting.
4. Don't denigrate Freemasonry or any other group or organization.
5. Don't insult anyone or call people improper names.
6. Use responsible criticism, with courteous questions for courteous answers.
7. When in doubt, assume the question is valid, and not an attempt to bait.

Like many parts of the USENET, complaints about specific users should be e-mailed to the postmaster of the ISP or remailer from whence the mail came. Be sure and include full headers.

Other places for the discussion of Masonic topics are:
soc.org.freemasonry (a moderated group),
alt.masonic.member (an unmoderated group),
alt.masonic.youth (unmoderated), and
alt.masonic.demolay (unmoderated).

Graphics can sometimes be found in alt.binaries.freemasonry.
Also remember, all these newsgroups are completely untyled, so restrict your Masonic communications and only put into writing what is proper to be written. Brethren, take due notice thereof and govern yourselves accordingly.

For the visitor, again I say welcome. Sometimes, you are looking for more information on Masons.

I will give you a short list of places to search: (Yes, I know there are many others, but this can only be so long to fit in my e-mail.)
