Once Shaw Town was a hamlet between Flixton and Urmston and Shaw Hall was
a medieval hall ( possibly manorial but might have been held by a wealthy freedman )
Later a Jacobean hall was built nearby which lasted until the 20th Century. Now the area name is kept by the
sub-post office and the Shawe Hall Community Centre.
