Eyam 2002
This years trip had to be fitted in to allow us to visit my mother in hospital in the afternoon. So we set out at 08:15 and were first into the car park at 09:15
It was an overcast but bright morning
| It was so quiet even the cats were ambling across the roads |
Townhead Well
Townend and Childrens Wells
Both wells at the Townend site took the Queens Golden Jubilee as their theme.
The Childrens Well
| This design was simple but very striking with the orb surrounded by the message "ER 50" at it's centre |
Townend Well
This design was based on the symbols of the monarchy around the figure of Christ as the light of the world |
| The top of the design gave the Golden Jubilee symbol and the motto of the Sovereign. |
The base displayed the Royal Standard and did so in good detail as always using just petals, seeds and mosses |
Around Eyam
| As usual the walk to the Town End passed prize winning decorations... |
| ...and through the churchyard past the grave of Catherine Mompesson |
| ...before reaching the square and the usual friendly cat by the Eyam Tea Rooms |
| ...which have now reopened under new management ( though with fewer cakes than under the previous owners ) |
