Trafford General Hospital, Moorside Road

Originally known as Park Hospital, Davyhulme this was the hospital ceremonially handed over to mark the start of the National Health Service. It is also the place I was born :-) and it uses the JELNET energy management system which I worked on at Thorn Security !

The Curzon and the old Swimming Baths Just a few yards from the Hospital lies the Curzon cinema and the site of the old swimming baths. This photo from 1974 shows the old Baths in the centre and the Curzon to the right. This picture was kindly supplied by and is ©Malcolm R Bell
The main war memorial is a cenotaph which forms the middle of the roundabout at the Nag's Head circle there is another memorial in a small park on Crofts Bank Road War Memorial
G. H. Carnall Leisure Centre The G. H. Carnall Leisure Centre is on Lostock Road and was named after another long-standing Urmston councillor. In life Mr. Carnall was a kind and gentle man who made a point of wishing people well when he found out they had exams, tests or problems ahead.
The other leisure centre replaced the old Swimming baths and also includes a small partly self-service branch library Urmston Leisure Centre
Terry's Store Terry's marks the outer edge of Urmston town centre shopping
There are 2 shopping centres in Urmston centre - both constructed in the 1960s. The main centre lies off Flixton Road and Crofts Bank Road. A view of Urmston Shopping Centre
