Welcome to Doreen's paper chains

This paper chain requires no glue nor staples.

Draw two concentric circles, centre A, and radii 1.5cm and 3.0cm. Draw a radius from A, cutting the smaller circle at B, and extending beyond the larger circle to a point C 1.5cm from the larger circle. At C contruct a perpendicular to AC 2cm long, where C is the midpoint. Call the ends of this line D and E. At D construct a line parallel to AC to meet the larger circle at F. Similarly, at E construct a line parallel to AC to meet the larger circle at G.

Cut along DCE, then cut along DF and EG, then cut around the longer part of the circumference of the larger circle from F to G. Now cut along CB, and around the circumference of the smaller circle.

This forms the template for the paper chains.

Fold a sheet of paper to a depth of not less than 8.5cm. Place DCE along this fold. Cut around the shape of the template. Then cut along CB, and cut all round the circumference of the smaller circle.

Using this size, you can get six chain pieces out of one A4 sheet.
