USER NAME : SOS (IN CAPITALS)

PASSWORD: lookout (IN LOWER CASE)

If an NUT member is involved in an incident at work, during which they are the victim of an assault, they should follow the LEA policy called the "Violence At Work Procedure".

Follow the link above if you wish to look at the procedure in full at the LEA's Occupational Health Website (user name "SOS", password "lookout"). This policy explains all about the forms that acts of violence might take, such as verbal abuse, threats, sexual or racial harassment. It also explains what is expected of the headteacher in supporting someone who has been a victim, such as removing a pupil who has physically assaulted a teacher from the class or school until the matter has been resolved.

The procedure involves the victim in completing a "Violence to Staff Report Form". This link will take you to this form on the LEA's Occupational Health Website. After completing the form it should be given to the headteacher for them to complete the section detailing the action they have taken. The form is then forwarded to Education Bradford. The NUT Health & Safety Advisors receive copies from EB so they can monitor this issue of violence towards staff in schools and support NUT members who need it.
