Amendments to Conference Motions

It was agreed to submit each of the five amendments discussed.

Reports

Redeployment Redundancy & Early Retirement

We will receive the council's final draft on Thursday. We will not agree to a worsening of conditions.

Placement Process for Supernumerary Staff

Jane Rendle reported 118 expressions of interest in VS/ER. The Council is likely to decide on offers during March.

Privatisation of LEA

Ian Murch reported Unions will have a chance to comment on the suitability of bids.

We are organising a day conference on 17th March to share campaigning experiences.

Ian also reported on negotiations about conditions of service transferring in any privatisation. About 60 NUT members would transfer.

Pay, Threshold & Performance Management

The meeting for people who have not yet met the threshold lively and well attended. There will be another meeting once we have further guidance from CEA on applying for a review.

Performance Management was discussed and wide variations between schools reported. It was decided to survey schools about how Performance Management if being applied.

Teacher Shortage

The meeting decided to seek a ballot to refuse to cover unfilled vacancies and long term absence.

Correspondence

Applications for the Black Teachers' Conference invited. Three were approved with others at the officers discretion.
