John Illingworth, NUT President 2001-2002, will talk in Bradford on March 20th about how teachers can protect their mental health.

John was a headteacher in Nottingham before being forced to retire by stress-related ill-health. He made a very moving speech at last year’s NUT Conference in which, with powerful resonances for many teachers, he described the devastating effect of work related stress on his own life. John has also featured on two Radio 4 programmes, “Today” and “On The Ropes”, discussing the growing problem of mental ill-health amongst teachers and how it can be countered.

The time and venue will be announced nearer the date.
