In November 2004, over on the Citizens
of the Imperium board, Angus "Falkayn" McDonald drew up
deckplans for his Speculative Trader starship, the
Lanthium Petal. A few of us produced sketches or renders of what the
ship would look like. Once the models were built, the obvious next step was
to animate them. I started with a short clip showing the
ship going into jump, and then another showing it on a starport landing
pad having cargo loaded. These seemed to go down well, so I started adding more
and more scenes, and so the first Traveller Mini-Movie was born.
The models and animation were created using Cinema 4D, with help from Paint Shop Pro, VideoWave, and VirtualDub.
IMPORTANT: All the animations are in AVI format, compressed using the DivX codec. You MUST have this installed in order to view them.
1. A Quick Getaway
Chased by a g-carrier, the crew of the Iridium Rose, a Lanthium Petal-class Speculative Trader, hurry back to the starport in their air/raft. Once their cargo is loaded, they take off and head for the jump point, pursued by a Scout/Courier...

A pair of Broadsword-class Mercenary Cruisers arrive in-system, fight their way past a trio of Dragon-class SDBs, and try to capture a military base on the planet.
