Game-Over! UK Contributors Required!

Over the past twelve months or so we have been providing reviews and features, both for the Game-Over! WWW magazine and in the Game-Zone conference on CIX. Well, we are once again looking for new contributors based in the UK.

We are not necessarily looking for professional writers, just keen games-players who think they will enjoy writing honest and fair reviews about the games they are playing.

Although it is voluntary (you`re not paid yet, sorry) there are some benefits. Apart from seeing your work appear in Europe`s fastest growing WWW games magazine, the games software will be provided to you for review purposes, and as long as deadlines are met, you can keep the games after your review is completed. You will often have the chance to be one of the first to see finished games which have not been released yet, as well as beta`s and previews, and play with some of the latest hardware kit.

As you can see we have quite a few places available, and this reflects the growing popularity of a magazine that now boasts over 12,000 regular readers. We are now supported by all of the major publishers in Europe, as well as many others worldwide, and we receive a constant supply of new products to review.

So, are you interested? Great, here`s what we`re looking for...

Flight Simulations Reviewer

To cover titles such as, EF2000 - F22 - Flying Corps - Janes Longbow etc. You will need to be the sort of person who lives for this type of game, and delights in 300 page manuals, keyboard overlays, and 2 hour missions, and will then enjoy writing about it all in a set time limit.

We would also like to hear from anyone interested in on-line flight sims such as Air Warrior, Confirmed Kill etc. If this is you, then please let me know.

3D Action Games Reviewer

To cover titles such as Quake, DN3D, Hexen 2, Mission Packs etc, as well as other more general Action Game titles.

Sports Games/General Reviewer

To specifically cover titles such as, FIFA 97 - Hyperblade, Championship Manager 2, Football Pro 97 etc, and also help out where needed with other more general gaming titles.

General/Standby Reviewers

We are also looking for a few general/standby reviewers. Peeps who enjoy most types of games, and can step in and help out as and when required. One week you may be asked to review Quake, the next time Zork Nemesis, and the next Flying Corps. Again, all within a time limit. Please email me if you think you would be interested.

Official Representative at Shows

Game-Over! is regularly invited to attend computer entertainment shows and exhibitions, some of which are trade only, and we are looking for someone (preferably London based but mobile) to attend these shows on our behalf. We`ll arrange the tickets and intro`s, you just have to attend, stay reasonably sober, enjoy the day, and then report back to us on all the latest news and products.

Feature Writers

We would also like to hear from anyone who would like to write a regular feature or article for the magazine. In particular we are looking for someone to write a monthly On-Line games column, covering WWW, H2H and Host server gaming. Perhaps you have another idea that you think would be popular, if so why not let us know.

What to do next...

The fun part to all this is of course playing the free games, but you will need more than just a passing interest, because some of the games are heavy going, and we will need a fair and thorough review within a set time limit. Most of our reviews consist of a minimum of 1500 words, and the review has to be written, within the deadline (normally 3 weeks), whether you enjoyed playing the game or not.

Game-Over! is growing with every issue, and we have great fun producing it. So, if you would like to join in the fun, and are interested in any of the above, then please email me (editor@game-over.co.uk) putting "Reviewer application" in the subject title of your email.

Please note that you will eventually be asked to write a sample review of the game you are currently playing (not for publication). To speed up the recruitment process you can of course submit your sample review along with your application if you would prefer.

Don't forget that we are not looking for professional writers, so please don't be put off if you think you might like to have a go.

I look forward to hearing from you :-)
