Was, at one time (if its own publicity was to be believed)"the UK's leading computer magazine." I started writing for it way back in 1989, doing interviews, road-testing hardware and software, and so forth. From 1992 until 1999 (by which time I'd got bored, and the column itself boring, and probably would have been sacked if I hadn't jumped ship first) I contributed a column called "Sounding Off", which looked at tecchie things from the perspective of a simple user, rather than an expert. It must have been some good, because it twice got me nominated for Columnist of the Year. Not that good, though, because I never actually won. Now, sadly, it has gone the way of all flesh, having closed down in June 2009. Here are come of my contributions over the years:
