Welcome to the Humpage internet page.
If this is your surname - you are very lucky. Just think, a simple accident of birth
has prevented you from having a really boring name like SMITH, JONES, or BROWN.
Instead, you have an unusual and interesting surname with a history that goes back in time
much further than you probably think.
I have been dabbling on the internet for about two years and, in that time, have discovered what a wonderful medium it is for people all over the world to communicate. I have received e-mail from people who l have never met, and from people l have not seen for many years.
Some time ago, l was particularly pleased to be contacted by Al Humpage in the USA, and Raymond Humpage in New Zealand.
They were both keen to establish contact with fellow HUMPAGEs throughout the world and, perhaps, to uncover more of their family history.
This was a very happy coincidence, because my father, HAROLD HUMPAGE, has since he retired a few years ago, been researching the history of the Humpage surname. In fact he intends to use some of his findings in the degree course in Social History he is currently taking at Birmingham University. (In his spare time he runs Marathons (5 London Marathons, and this year, the Potteries Marathon), caravans, plays the organ, and drives us all daft by never shutting up about the time he spent in the Royal Marines, single handedly defending the entire nation from attack).
When l saw how pleased Harold, Al, and Raymond were to be able to communicate with other Humpages from around the world,
l thought it would be a good idea to create this web page to enable others to join in.

There are below, photographs of Harold and Debbie, and Joan and myself, taken whilst on holiday
in Malta last year. This by the way, (my case in particular), is the reason for the uncharacteristically sun-bronzed appearances.
The UK weather, does not usually provide much opporunity for this.

He has completed a short book on the history of the Humpage surname, and there are some very interesting
facts in it. What is the big eye-opener though, is just how much work has been done by him, and
how time-consuming trawling through old records really is.
