The Planning Team   Dig Woodvine (Business Manager)
Dig is the director of XCL Ltd. He is a former Royal Engineer and has acted as an expedition leader and a project manager on previous expeditions. He has been to Guyana 6 times before. He presents regularly on expedition planning, teamwork & leadership and is a technical advisor to the 'Development of National Expeditions Qualifications'. He is a fellow of the Royal Geographic Society. His previous employment was as a Health Promotion specialist. He enjoys the combination of an expedition that supports community project development

  Mark Surtess (Director of Planning)
Mark has led two expeditions to Guyana and recently completed a recce for the 2000 expedition. He was the logistics manager on the Guyana expedition in 1997 and has been a project manager for Raleigh International. Mark has worked and travelled extensively, including Kenya, New Zealand, Malaysia, and Libya. He is a freelance development trainer and is also a visiting university lecturer



  Neil Hardiman (Expedition Leader)
Neil has worked for the fire service up in Lancashire for 7 years. He has been involved in various levels of expeditions for 9 years, initially in 1991 when he spent three months in Borneo as a volunteer with Operation Raleigh. Following that he helped to organise small adventure based trips to Morroco, Zimbabwe, Israel and a Traverse of the Cullin ridge on the isle of Skye. Neil was project manager for a construction project on the 1997 "Into then Land of Many Waters Eexpedition" to Guyana, and will be leading a project group trekking and working in The Annapurna region of Nepal in November this year.

  Chris Chadwick (Project Manager)
Chris is the director of Catalyst Training & Development Ltd. He has been involved in the planning of expeditions for the past three years. Chris is an accomplished public speaker who specialises in all aspects of Corporate Culture. He first went to Guyana as part of the 1997 expedition and fell in love with the country, it's people and their wonderful culture.

  John Follin (Project Manager)
40 years old, John is a freelance Trainer & IT Consultant and a veteran of 4 previous trips to Guyana. Expedition photographer for two of those expeditions, during this trip however John is leaving most of his camera equipment behind in order to concentrate on his project manager role.

Sam Woodvine (Project Manager)
Sam is a Market Manager for a leading brick manufacturer. Beyond her professional career, she has been involved in organising expeditions to Guyana for the past 5 years. She is now actively involved in the organisation of Guyana 2000 and is looking forward to this exciting challenge.

Claire Lewis (Project Manager)
Claire works as a Business Development Manager for a Yorkshire food company. She thoroughly enjoys travelling, especially in the context of expeditions. She went to Chile with Operation Raleigh and first went to Guyana in 1997. She lives in Sheffield and in her spare time is actively involved in a local ladies football team.

Val Williams (Project Manager)
Aged 45 Val works as a training and educational officer with a National Health Service Community Trust. Her interests include travelling abroad, expeditions & community work abroad. She has been to Guyana on two previous occasions in 1994 and 1997. She also visited Romania and Rwanda in 1996. Val is a registered nurse, midwife and health visitor.

Caroline Hardiman (Project Manager)
Hiya, I'm Caroline Hardiman I travelled to Guyana with the 'Into The Land of Many Waters Expedition' in 1997 and I enjoyed it so much I can't wait to go back next year. I am also involved in an expedition in November working on community projects in Nepal.

Tim Rusling (Project Manager)
Tim is a management consultant and much of his work is focused on outdoor development and team building. He works with a variety of clients and with differing age groups. His work has taken him as far afield as South East Asia and North America.

Martin Hansford (Project Manager)

Graham Johnson (Project Manager)
Graham is an independant management and training consultant who specialises in Community Development, EFQM Excellence and Buzan Learning Techniques. A professionally trained community worker Graham has spent the last 20 years working with disadvantaged and vulnerable people.

In 1995 Graham was involved in a large scale aid convoy to wartorn Croatia and now wants to extend his experience to a developing Country. He is committed to 'life long learning' and believes that 'doing' is the best way of achieving this.

Judith Vockings (Logistics Manager)
The first time Judith went to Guyana was as a member of the Kaboura Tour expedition in 1994. She loved the country and the experience so much that she went back as the logistics manager with the Into Land of Many Waters Expedition in 1997. She has also travelled through eastern Europe and South Africa. Aged 40 her interests include cycling and furniture restoration.
