A fascist loony has been setting bombs in London streets
This is the first time in my lifetime that anyone has deliberately attacked me and my friends and neighbours. I'm neither black nor gay but all 3 bombs so far have been in streets I am familiar with, in places I know. Somehow it scares me more and angers me more than the IRA bombs did - even though I was near more than one of them when they went off, they were sort of impersonal. This is personal. I wanted the IRA to stop. I want these guys to get nailed to the wall.
What our government is doing in Serbia now is pretty much what the IRA used to do in London. A wants B to stop doing something so they drop bombs on C. I don't think of the Serbs, or the Iraqis, or the Argentinians or whoever as my enemies - that was something the government was doing without my approval or consent.
And - in an odd way - I didn't think of the IRA as my enemies even when they were trying to kill me (what else could I think they were doing when they set bombs that broke the windows of the building I was working in at the time?) A wanted B to stop so bombed C. I was C. It seemed like something that was going on between strangers who had just happened to choose my home city as the place to have their fight. But these people are attacking me and my friends and neighbours. This time I'm B, I'm one of the people they are trying to kill. They are, in a very real way, my enemies. The first ones I've ever had I suppose.
They want to kill black people, they want to kill Asians and they want to kill gay men, and they want to kill anybody else who associates with those targets. If the shit who made these bombs saw our congregation coming out of church on Sunday morning he would want to kill us because most of us are black. (And yes, some of us are Asians and some of us are even gay). It just goes to show the complete negativity and inherent nihilism of fascism. They hate everybody and are trying to bomb everybody.
Some piece of BNP scum was on a radio phone-in today jabbering on about how their views are suppressed & never get on to the radio. He said, as they always do, that that all they wanted to do was defend traditional the British way of life and British culture. Maybe its obvious to the death-obsessed jackboot-wearers how pushing nails into baby's heads does that. Shits like him aren't any part of my way of life or my culture.
No, calling them shits is unfair to shit. Shit is fertile, it provides food for flies. Fascism isn't fertile, it is entirely negative, a moral and intellectual dead end, hardly politics at all, it is the absence of politics. Politics is about reconciling different interests. Politics is how we live together in a world where we do have different interests. Politics is about human life. Fascism is the opposite of politics. Fascism says "different interests cannot be reconciled, only one must prevail". Fascism cannot cope with the variety, the diversity, the exuberance of life in a world created by an exuberant God. Fascism says says "that's too hard for us - so we'll just choose the man with the shiniest hat & all obey him". The natural end-point would be a world without difference, a world without diversity, a solipsistic world with one man iit. The Spanish falangists had a slogan "Viva Muerte!", "Long live Death!" Taken to its limit this necrophiliac hatred of thought and change would lead to the death of everybody. Fascism is anti-life, anti-change, anti-God. The philosophy of hell. Not even food for flies.
