| Haftarah Recordings | ||
| These recordings of haftarot follow Minhag Anglia readings and are chanted with the Western Ashenazi trop. Please consider making a donation if you find these resources useful. | ||
| E & OE: The recordings are made (mostly) by volunteers, not professionals and some may contain small errors of pronunciation, melody or syllable stress; the correction of these is left as an exercise for the more observant student :-) Please be reassured that errors really don't matter very much; apart from the fact that few people pay really close attention to the recitation of a haftarah when in shul, the halacha is that mistakes by the haftarah reader do not need correction (it’s definitely not the same as leyning from the Torah). | ||
| Streaming the recordings: Selecting the link in the Parashah column streams the audio for each haftarah. | ||
| Downloading the recordings: Right-clicking the link in the Parashah column (or selecting via a long press if you are using a mobile device) downloads and saves the recording as an MP3 audio file. On some devices you can also download and save while streaming, either by clicking on the screen or else by selecting a vertical ellipsis control (⋮) if one is provided in the media player. | ||
| Large text pages: Selecting the link in the Haftarah reading column allows you to download and save a large text version of the relevant haftarah as a PDF. Printing this out may be particularly useful for people with poorer eyesight, as many chumashim don’t have very clear Hebrew typefaces, especially for the smaller vowels and notes. | ||
| As well as recordings of the Brachot we read on Shabbat both before and after the haftarah, we include in Haftarah notes.pdf the text of the most common notes together with an accompanying recording in Haftarah notes.mp3. We do recommend downloading these and familiarising yourself with the notes; it makes haftarah preparation much easier. | ||
| Alternatively or additionally, the cantillation with both midi files and music notation is at http://www.davecurtis.net/haph/haphcant.html. | ||
| Parashah (with MP3 link) | Haftarah reading (with PDF link) | Notes on variant readings (please consult this Haftarah Luach if in any doubt) |
| A parashah marked with (*) may in some years be read doubled with the one following; the haftarah for the one following is then read (Acharei Mot and Netzavim excepted) A few readings are marked with (§) to indicate that there may be some confusion as to the correct text; please see these explanatory notes |

But in Leap Years they are read separately so (1): if Acharei Mot is either Hagadol or Machar Chodesh we read Halo Chibnei on Kedoshim, (2): if Kedoshim is Rosh Chodesh (e.g. 5790, 5793, 5814) we read Halo Chibnei on Acharei Mot (3) if neither Acharei Mot nor Kedoshim are special Shabbatot (e.g. 5801, 5828, 5831) we read Ezekiel for Acharei Mot and Halo Chibnei for Kedoshim |
