Minutes of meeting held Wednesday 13th. January 1999 in TC7 at 18:30. Present: Neil Barron, Chris James, Martin Ayub, Steve Mantz, Paul Garcia, Paul Auborn, Dan George. By Phone: Steve Walker Apologies: None Today's prices are: Asda - 159.5p, Delta - 110.5, JJB - 260, Lynx - 181.5, Photobition - 262, Richmond - 63.5, SFI - 158.5, Signet - 38.5, Tesco - 180.8 Unit price is up to 0.7341 We have sold our Iomega shares making a 30% profit after dealing costs. It's still a share to watch for diving back into when the price is good. Paul suggested Psion & Pace as potential shares. Neil pointed out that Psion directors have been selling their shares of late. Paul added Manchester United pending the BSkyB purchase. Neil covered Slug & Lettuce the pub chain as suggested previously, and distributed some documentation. Steve Walker reported on a survey showing better prospects for pubs than night-clubs. Paul mentioned a company called Greenline which charges much less for US & Canadian shares of $29. This will require the setting up of a separate account for these purchases. Considering the excellent profit we made on our first venture into US stocks, the money recovered from the Iomega sale will be put into an account to be used for future purchases in US shares. Steve Walker spoke about Ladies In Leisure - the fitness centre chain - as a prospective purchase. Our portfolio details have been entered into the Interactive Investor web site, which can be found at www.iii.co.uk (Login=hottips Password=garcia) It was decided to postpone a purchasing decision until our next meeting (which is only 2 weeks away) given the volatile market. Hopefully by then prices will have settled down. The next meeting will be an experimental Saturday meeting on Sat 30th January. Venue to be decided but not at work. Keep watching here. Those of you on e-mail will be notified directly. Finally a couple of quick pleas from me. Can we please be more punctual, and start the meeting at 6:30. Those who are on a meal break don't get much of a meeting if we don't start until 6:50. And, for those of you who have asked for weekend meetings so that you can make them, please come along to the meeting on Saturday 30th January and support your idea. Next monthly meeting is on Wednesday 10th February 1999, at 6:30pm in TC7.
