My Pinball Collection:

Coming Soon - Sound samples from the games

I've owned a pinball machine for about 6 years now, my very first being a Williams Funhouse that I bought from Deith Leisure in New Malden, Surrey, England.

Funhouse is a `classic' in the pinball world. It featured the head of a dummy called Rudy on the playfield and was designed by Pat Lawlor. Although I subsequently part-exchanged Funhouse for an Addams Family, I still have fond memories of that great game, and still have a flyer signed by Pat together with John Youssi who did the artwork and Larry DeMar who did the software.

So, back to the games I have now. Here are 4 of them:

These are located in my garage which I fitted out especially for playing pinball.

Even so, things get a bit cramped in there and when the furthest one - World Cup Soccer - needs repairing, the others have to shuffle up to allow access to the back box.

Anyway, back to the plot. As Funhouse made way for The Addams Family my `collection' of 1 managed to stay in the house. Soon though, I couldn't resist the excitement of a new pin arriving, and so a shiny Getaway found its way into the garage courtesy of G&J Automatics from somewhere out west. By now the collecting bug had really bitten, and soon after the Judge Dredd arrived from Walsall, followed rapidly by the World Cup Soccer from Amusement Caterers of Sheffield.

I was happy to leave it at that, but an irresistable offer of a RoadShow came my way from SE London. It seemed fitting somehow that a collection that started with a Funhouse ended with Red & Ted's RoadShow, another Pat Lawlor game with 2 heads on the playfield.

Since then, although a Terminator 2 and a Jurrasic Park have passed through, there have been no additions to the collection. It is tempting though.....hmmm!
