- What are the major disadvantages of waterproof compacts and single use cameras ?
Answer On-camera strobes will result in maximum backscatter.
They have fixed, standard format lenses, and you can only get so close to a subject.
- What is the minimum set of equipment that you need to start taking
"professional" level underwater photographs ?
Answer An underwater camera, an off-camera strobe, and a wide
angle lens and viewfinder.
- Are supplimentary wide angle lenses worth the money ?
Answer Yes - they provide very good results, but don't expect a
UKP 200 supplimentary lens to match the quality of a UKP 2,000 specially designed Nikonos
lens.
- Does a housing need controls for all the camera's features ?
Answer It's up to you what you want to use. My camera has loads
of levers and buttons, but realistically all I ever use underwater is the aperture control
and the focusing/shutter release.
