The Society's inaugural meeting took place in April 1985 in the back room of the New Dolphin Hotel at Honiton, Devon, England. About 50 people attended the inaugral meeting to discuss the formation of the Society. The annual subscription fee was set at £5. Initially there was a joining fee in order to raise funds, but this was abolished after the first year or so when we became solvent. The initial membership was 23 people.
