Books to borrow
A selection of frequently requested books is held in our Mini Library for the use by members. It is a very useful resource. You will find that there is a recommended book list on DSA national website & on DownsEd. That list is periodically revised. When you find a title from those websites or other sources please contact mini library and ask if it is available and details of how to borrow & return it. As this facility is restricted for the use by our members please provide your downssyndrome OK and/or DSA membership number at the time of borrowing.
The library also keeps selected copies of some articles or Newsletters from other organisations concerned with Down's Syndrome or related matters. Please phone the hon. librarian and ask her advice on the topic of your interest.

DSA BANNERS

It is important to make the public aware of the facts about Down's Syndrome, the issues concerned and the existence and good work of our association. Banners are an important, visible tool in this effort. You may have seen them at several events where our members participate e.g. Fairs, exhibitions. They were also displayed on the set of TV program "This is your Life" when Damon Hill, a patron of DSA, was the star of the show and his son (with Down's Syndrome) was on the stage.
Our Mini Library holds professionally made banners, 7 ft 6 in x 3 ft approx., which are available for purchase or hire by the interested Groups throughout the country.
Please contact librarian or a trustee/committee member to discuss ideas for using them.

Makaton is a very useful technique in helping children with Down's Syndrome communicate and progress towards speech. Some parents found the following video very useful and enjoyable for their children.
