Local MP encourages local groups to apply for lottery funding

Local MP Norman Baker is encouraging community and voluntary groups in his Lewes constituency to apply for funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

This comes following correspondence between the MP and Sheena Vick, the Regional Manager of the South East of England at the Heritage Lottery Fund.

To date, the Lewes constituency has received over £9.3 million from the Heritage Lottery Fund towards heritage projects. However, the fund has received relatively few claims from community based groups for grants of up to £50,000 under the 'Young Heritage' grants programme.

Norman said: "I would like to encourage local groups to apply for such funding, especially those that require the smaller grants that to date there have not been many applications for from our area."
