Vandalism Costs

The costs of vandalism to the town have escalated this year. Vandalism such as the damage to the Centenary Ground Sports Pavilion, at the New Yea has cost over £3000 this year. Over the summer damage to the Bowling Green playing surface, deliberate damage to seats in the Recreation Ground, and the dropping of bottles have caused inconvenience and health risk from broken glass.

There has also been a spate of damage to private fences around the town, and to shop windows in the town centre.

The Town Council also faces a considerable cost because of daily damage to public property in the town. Peter Harris the Town Council's Finance and Policy Chairman pointed out "the money which we spend on sorting out vandalism is a real cost every resident or council tax payer.

If any one sees damage to local property, please contact the police on 708999
