My Citroen Car Club Page

I have been a member of the CCC for some seven years now, and have actually owned 7 Citroens - 4 GSs', 2 BXs' and a Visa, all of which were fun to drive, even when the newest I have had was 8 years old when I got it.

The CCC is a great way to get cheap parts, advice and items, the monthly magazine is really professionally produced, is always packed to the gunnels with articles (when the printers and editors wanted to increase the size of the magazine from A5 to A4 they were quite soundly shouted down by the members, who much preferred the more compact version). There are also the usual letters, for sale ads, local meetings etc. All in all a great way to meet people (and they don't always talk about cars by the way - though they do most of the time :-) )

DS text - 'the most innovative car ever' was one claim, and it's proably true, never before (and, until the introduction of an anti-gravity controlled car, never again) will such a leap forward in design philosophy and execution be made.

The DS was the first car to have hydro-pneumatic suspension, it also had hydraulic-powered brakes, hydraulically-assisted gear-change and steering (after all they had to make use of this new system to it's fullest extent). It had the most aerodynamic shape at the time (considering that Ford's design of the time was the Zephyr!) the whole race for aerodynamics, and the way that modern cars are designed was probably started with this one futuristic design,

When the DS was first displayed to the world it was greeted with gasps of amazement - and the Citroen reputation for innovation was established. It had been started with the Traction Avant, but the DS clinched it.

It's a shame that the planned-for flat-6 engine engine never made it to production.

One day I'll have one - I hope.
