TENNESSEE ROSE
Cluny Church Hall, Edinburgh
August, 1991

A Scunthorpe Tesco-girl wants to be Stella from A Streetcar Named Desire but finds herself becoming Blanche instead. Richard Cameron, winner of the 1990 Independent Theatre Award for Can't Stand Up For Falling Down, brings to this story the same yearning for an unattainable golden past, and Jane Thornton's straightforward direction of the National Student Theatre Company keeps the play's feet on the ground.
