INVASION WEREWOLF
Festival Club, Edinburgh
August, 1992

Johnny Myers's homage to Fifties horror B-movies has all the ingredients: a meteorite, strange unidentifiable plants, a rash of disappearances, murders and a square-jawed hero (a small-town doctor) with a feisty female reporter for a sidekick. Myers performs every part himself, playing a movie executive (on a glorious monochrome set) "reading" a script proposal. But while his characterisations and camp sense of genre are pleasing, his character changes, and ultimately the whole show, lack zip.
