Camden, WC1X

Grays Inn Road is a first stage hostel providing accommodation for 15 residents with a history of rough sleeping and serious and enduring mental health problems.

The project is modern and purpose-built and the building has five floors served by a lift. The project accepts residents over 18, and is mixed. The accommodation comprises 15 single rooms with washbasins, shared kitchens, bathrooms and showers, two lounges, a dining area and a quiet room; there are additionally two offices and a staff flat, and a small garden.

Twenty-four hour cover is provided in the project with single waking cover and a sleepover at night. Referral to the project is through the Focus Mental Health Outreach Team.

The hostel is tolerant and accepting and seeks to enable clients with a disrupted housing history to stabilise within the project, and move on to appropriate long term accommodation. Clients in the project have a keyworker who provides access to services for a range of needs.
The project seeks to empower residents to regain control over their own life.

Entrance into the project is designed to be as simple as possible with very few exclusion criteria. There is also emphasis on having as few rules as possible within the project. Clients with both mental health and substance use problems are accepted where it is possible to work with their mental health issues. The project will accept residents with pets.
