Poetry

I wrote this poem for inclusion in an anthology of poems on the lives of working poets, including journalists and what happens behind the headlines. The anthology, called 'Poetic Workers' was published at the end of May 1997.

REQUIEM FOR A SCHOOLGIRL

No more laughter.
No more tears.
No more joys.
No more fears.
Requiem for a schoolgirl.

No more happiness.
No more sorrows.
No more hours.
No more tomorrows.
Requiem for a schoolgirl.

Life came sweetly.
Death came fast.
Wrong place, wrong time.
Now you are past.
Requiem for a schoolgirl.
