Psi-Mail Internet & Compuserve
This page is intended to give guidance on the setting up of a Compuserve POP3 email account for use with PsiMail Internet.
It is important to remember when you join Compuserve your email will not be a POP3 account. It will instead be based on thier own email system. In order for you to be able to access your email via any other software other than Compuserves own, you must first go online and move your email to their POP3 server, to do this you must go live and type GO POPMAIL then follow the procedure from there. Please note this can not be done on the Psion, you will have to use the software provided by Compuserve.
You will be asked for a new email address and therefore you will also have to have a new password ready. Be aware of this!
Ok now you have your new email account, the next thing is to configure PsiMail Internet. In all honesty the easiest thing to now do is to visit Jochen Siegenthaler web site and download one of his .prv files. These are files that include the necessary scripts for accessing Compuserve. He has already created most of them for different access points all over the world. Once you have done this press "Back" on your browser and come back here.
Now you have the actual script, things will be much simpler.
Now either go into the "Setup" program (part of PsiMail Internet) that you should have installed on your Psion and create a new file or create a new file from the System Screen, once you have done this you will be presented with the Wizard that will guide you through the process.
The first few screens are just acknowledgements so you can safely skip through them, then you will come to one that says "Select Service provider template", this is the .prv you should have just downloaded and when chosen it it will say "Compuserve xxxxxxx" (where xxxxx is the .prv file you downloaded. Now obviously go to the lower line and choose the nearest access point to where you live. Now press enter.
Here are a few screen shots of how the next few screen should look:
Note the "login" is referring to your old numerical Compuserve ID and the Password is Not the new password you have just done. but your usual Compuserve password. |

Note "Your name" this is a straight forward as it comes. Your name! The mail address is referring to your new POP3 email address. The mailbox login is the bit before the "@" symbol on your email address and the Password here is referring to your new POP3 Password. |

Now these are completed the rest is straight forward it will ask you about dialling and your modem, just complete the dialogs as necessary.
The last section is the "Port Settings" these should be set as follows:
Speed=19200 (Raise if connections work ok)
Set the Serial Handshaking as follows:
XON/XOFF=Off
RTS/CTS= On
DSR/DTR=On
DCD=Off
Port: TTY:A
That's it. If you have followed that you be able to connect to Compuserve without any problems.
