The House of Isis and Osiris is a contemporary Mystery School devoted to the Mysteries of Classical Western Paganism. The School is organised through a number of autonomous Houses, each offering a structured programme of training which places the teachings of the past within a vital, contemporary structure. These Houses are each considered to be parts of a Living Temple. The founders of individual Houses form part of a restored priesthood which functions according to the Light of the Ancient Mysteries. Each House offers its own training programme, and together Houses may choose to collaborate in shared projects, research and joint events. Members may align themselves to a House which reflects their own interests.
The House of Isis and Osiris works to promote an understanding of the Mysteries within ancient classical pagan traditions. Members are encouraged to draw upon their own intellectual, intuitive and artistic abilities as a means of exploring these past traditions. We employ sacred drama to bring stories of heroes and heroines, gods and goddesses to life and to develop the individual both personally and transpersonally.
The Star of Isis
The House of Isis and Osiris utilises the ancient symbol of the eight-pointed star as the model for its organic and democratic structure. Houses are affiliated into voluntary groups to form interrelated centres containing a maximum of eight groups. The eight arms of each star are occupied by functioning groups. The centre of the star is dedicated to the inspiration and guidance of the presiding deities. Thus, member groups forming a star are seen to be radiating outwards from the Central Presence in harmony and balance with other member groups. This intimate model cretes an organic and small scale pattern which preserves group autonomy and personal self-determination yet allows scope for dialogue, networking and collaborative projects.
For those already working within the Mysteries, we welcome your enquiries.
For those new to the Mysteries, a self-contained,
unsupervised study course
is available. This course provides an overview of the key
concepts that we draw upon in our collective work within the Mysteries.
It includes practical exercises and further reading. The material may be
worked through at the prosepective member's own pace without further
obligation to continue. The course contains a structured introduction to
the theory and practices of the School.
After the study course has been completed, those who feel drawn to the work of this Mystery School may then apply to become participants of The House of Isis and Osiris. At this point the member may align him/herself to the work of an individual House by applying directly to the Founder(s) of that House. Alternatively a general application may be made. A high degree of commitment is necessary for all supervised courses. To keep administrative costs to a minimum, we require that a SAE always accompany any correspondence.
We are aware of the geographical and time considerations that may make regular attendance at events or courses organised by a House or the School difficult. Therefore a correspondence course supported by occasional tutorials and workshops may be more suitable for you. Each application is considered individually.
We also recognise that there will be those who feel drawn to the work and ideals of the School but who are unable to make the required commitment to such a programme. Under these circumstances we are able to offer an associate membership.
The following forms of membership of The House of Isis and Osiris are available:
You may apply for membership by completing the
application form
