- Is an ISO 25 film slower or faster than an ISO 200 film?
Answer It's slower, and will have improved grain, sharpness,
contrast and colour saturation.
- Is a reversal film intended for slides or prints?
Answer A reversal film produces slides, while a negative film
would be used for prints. Reversal films usually have the word "chrome" in part
of their name, while negative films usually have the word "color".
- Will a speed of 1/15 sec let in more light or less light than a speed of 1/125 sec ?
Answer It will let in more light as it represents a longer time
duration.
- Will an aperture of f/2 let in more light or less light than an aperture of f/8 ?
Answer It will let in more light as it represents a bigger hole.
- Will a 20mm lens offer a wider or narrower angle of view than a 50mm lens. ?
Answer It will offer a wider angle (90 degrees) than the 50mm
(45 degrees).
- Does depth of field get bigger or smaller as you get closer to the subject ?
Answer It gets smaller - that's why close-ups need very accurate
focusing and small apertures to maximise the depth of field.
- What's the slowest speed that you can use handholding a 200mm lens without danger of
camera-shake ?
Answer About 1/200 sec, the formula being 1/(focal length).
- Does a slide film offer higher or lower contrast than a print film ?
Answer Higher, because the exposure latitude isn't as great.
- What is the E6 process ?
Answer It's the name for the chemical process used to develop
slide films. The process used to develop colour print films is known as the C41 process.
- Why do some wide angle lenses need a positive diopter close-up lens attached to them to
work behind a dome port. ?
Answer To compensate for the negative dipoter effect of the
glass of the dome port itself.
