Branch Structure

There are two Branches—in Thanet the Broadstairs, Ramsgate and St Peter's Branch, and in Dover the Sandwich and District Branch.

The Sandwich Branch lies to the south of the River Stour and contains the following Dover District Council wards:

  • Ash
  • Little Stour—Preston, Stourmouth and Wingham
  • Sandwich—Sandwich North and Sandwich South
  • Sholden with Worth
  • Staple with Woodnesborough

This is a rural area. The town of Sandwich and the surrounding villages and hamlets provide houses and services to the electorate of some 11,000. Marketing gardening, arable and mixed farming dominate the landscape. However, the flood plain of the River Stour, north of Sandwich, is a large industrial site where Pfizer, a pharmaceutical firm, employs over 3,000 people.

The Branch runs a number of social events during the year, and is run by committee which meets every two months. The Annual General Meeting is held in November.
