DINGLEYS in Worcestershire

This page is under construction

I have not studied the Worcestershire Dingleys that much, so the following is just what I have come across.

Dingley Pedigrees are shown in

There are some differences between these pedigrees which I have not studied. However, one query that I raise is that Thomas DINGLEY who married THROCKMORTON may be the grandson of Richard and Eleanor (née HANDSACRE), rather than the son. In 1427 and 1439 Thomas is described as the son of William son of Eleanor [CCR].

There has been some debate about whether Richard DINELEY who married Eleanor HANDSACRE descended from Dingleys of Lancashire or Northants. I believe that there is good, albeit circumstantial, evidence that Richard descended from the Lancashire Dingleys. Richard was probably the brother of Robert DYNELEY of Wolverton, Kingsclere.

The Kent Visitation of 1619 shows a pedigree of the Dingley family of Chilham and Faversham in Kent which descended from the Dingley family of Charlton, Worcs. This family appear to exhibit both forms of Dingley arms - see Dingley Coats of Arms.
