The Will of Mark Dingley (-1557)

The following is incomplete and fragmentary. This is because I had difficulty in places and ran out of steam, rather than the document itself being incomplete.

In the name of god amen The fourthe dai of August in the yere of our Lorde god a Thousande ffive hundreth fiftie and fyve And in the seconde and thirde yeres of the Reignes of oure soviraigne Lorde and Ladye Phillip and Marye [1553-1558] By the grace of god kinge of England ffrannce Naples Jerusalem and Irelande defenders of the faithe Prinns of Spayne and .... Archedukes of Austriche Duke of Millayne Burgundie and Brabannte Counties of ..... fflanders and Tiroll I Markes Dyngeley of ffrognall in the parishe of Chiselhurste in the countie of Kent .... being in soud and parficte mynde and memory .... and prayse be gyven unto Almightie god, do make and ordeyne this my pute testament and laste will for the disposing of .... my moveable goodes as here after folowithe ffirst I give and bequethe my soule to my Lorde god maker and Redmer of the world and Savior of the same having suche hope and confids in that thoroughe the merits of his passion which he suffered for me and all mankind I shall ... .... ... ... .. thereof made to Richard Dyngeley my sonne during all the terme of yeres mencioned in the said Indenture The same James and his assignes paying therfore yerely to myn heires one ... ... at the feaste of the .... Of saynt John Baptiste onely (if it be requyred) Also my mynde and will it that John Dyngeley my eldest sonne shall have and ... to hym his heires and assignes the ... chamber over the closet in my said house called Ffrognall and my Orchard called wattshookes wth the grasse ffrewtes and all other commodities ther to belongig in as Large and ample maner and forme as I have resynyd the same to my self by the Indentur of lease by me therof and grannted unto the said Richard Dyngeley my sonne during the terme of yeres ..nteyned in the same Indenture Also I give give to the said John Dyngeley my best damaske gown and my best velvet ... Item I give and bequethe to Richard Dyngley my sonne my silver cupp with the cover whiche I had of the gift of Sr Richard Weston and my best Mare whiche I have within the Isle of Wight my best gowns of ... and my seconde best velvet ... Item I give and bequethe to Edward Harrendey of London Mercer, my new gowne furred with martr... and edged wth parchement ... Item I give to Mrs Harrendey his wief xxx. lodes of dalwoode whiche lyeth in apple beside my howse in kent called Ffrognall to be delyvred to her in the messuage called Northumberland planwithin the Citie of London where she nowe dwelleth The residue of my goodes .... and Cattalls moveable and ummoveable .... Jewells and redy money whatsoever they be or wheresoever they may be founde or knowed and by me not willed given or bequeathed, after my bodye honestly buried, my funeralle discharged, my debts whiche I do owe .. ... dewtie being trewly cuntensyd and paide and my Legacies in this my .... testament and laste will fulfilled and paid I holye frely and clerely give to my sonne John Dyngeley to do with them in dede of pitie and charitie for my soule as he wold I should for hym yf he were in case like. And I will and desire my brother Sr Fraunces Fleminge knight and my sonne William More to be overseers of this my ... testament and last will. And I desire them that they will set my Executors to do the trew execucon thereof. And I give to eyther of the ... for their paynes taking in that ... Twentie shillings. In wytness whereof to this my ... testament and last will have set my hande and Seale youen the daie and yere abovesaid.
